#ActuallyCompassionate

This blog is for several topics.

1. Stories of people being #ActuallyCompassionate toward their fellow human beings, especially toward marginalized people like the ones the Trump administration seems to be going after. You know- poor and low-income people, disabled people, people on Medicaid, the elderly.

2. Stories of people whose lives have been saved or made markedly better by having affordable health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicaid, Medicare, Meals on Wheels, public schools, a clean environment, the 1965 Voting Rights Act, and others.

3. Topics will probably expand to other areas as people contribute or as I add links.

I work primarily in the realm of disability activism. That is the area with which I am most familiar. I am hoping to have some collaboration on this project.

Note: Blog and concept started by disabled single parent who works two jobs (has worked up to 4 part-time jobs in the past 3 years), has a child who has recently had surgery and who is on Medicaid's FAMIS program in Virginia, both of us in danger of losing health care access. If I have work deadlines, health issues, or am just plain exhausted, it may take a while for me to respond to comments (comments are off currently as I do not have time to monitor them and this is not going to be a free-for-all).
